February 27, 2014 (Burnaby, BC) – SUGOI Performance Apparel, a premium brand of Dorel Industries Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) today introduced the new RSE NeoShell® Team Edition Jacket. The jacket will be worn exclusively by the Cannondale Pro Cycling team, which includes elite riders Peter Sagan, Ivan Basso, Elia Viviani, Moreno Moser and Ted King. Jackets will be available to the team beginning in March, in preparation of the European Spring Classics, legendary for their predisposition to inclement weather.
As a result of months of testing with the Cannondale Pro Team riders, with the last fitting made in January at the team launch in California, the new RSE NeoShell® Team Edition Jacket has now joined the official 2014 race kit. The team tested the jacket for fit, comfort and breathability during numerous training rides over the past year. Riders all agreed that the jacket is the ultimate piece of apparel for wet and windy weather riding. “If I’m riding all day, this is the perfect jacket to keep me warm and dry,” said Ted King.
The jacket is constructed with the core fabrics, design and specifications of the RSE NeoShell® available now to consumers. Special team adjustments were made to meet the specific sizing for individual riders, including arm length, drop tail coverage, zipper position, front pocket removal, sponsorship logo placement and fabric color in the signature Cannondale green. “Having the team wear this jacket validates our goal to design a jacket specifically for elite riders that stand out among the competition,” commented SUGOI Creative Director Rob Gill.
“With weather related issues forecasted to plague Europe in 2014, the right apparel will play an ever increasing role in a team’s performance. With the introduction of the SUGOI RSE NeoShell® Jacket to the Cannondale Pro Cycling apparel roster, athletes will stay warm and dry inside and out, with this ultra-breathable waterproof jacket,” Gill added.
When SUGOI set out to engineer the world’s most breathable, waterproof cycling jacket, the final obstacle was finding a material that met their exacting demands. A partnership with fabric giant Polartec® gave the brand access to NeoShell®, a remarkable new fabric that allowed SUGOI to create the jacket they always wanted. Its secret is unprecedented breathability, courtesy of dynamic two way air exchange. Combined with the waterproof performance of a hard shell, a new era of cycling jackets was born. The RSE NeoShell® Jacket is available in Matador Red, Cyan and Black for $280.00 at bicycle retailers across North America and Europe.
