Job Function:
The Print Room Helper (Floater Person) is responsible for general preparation of screens for printing while staying organized and maintaining maximum efficiency. The person in this position does not need to have previous experience in the screen printing industry but must be reliable and able to communicate clearly.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks
- Check all screens for quality
- Prepare enough screens for each press
- Physically move screens between coating room and burning unit
- Coat screens with emulsion
- Rinse and dry screens after burning
- Block screens with block-out
- Report the inventory of screens to the Printroom Supervisor at the end of the shift
- Prepare and mix emulsion for the next shift
- Tracking the inventory of the emulsion daily
- May be requested to assist with monthly inventory count
- Assist in any maintenance on all equipment when required
- Maintain clean and safe work environment
- Work with Printroom Supervisors & Pressman to improve on process
- Other relevant tasks or responsibilities as may be required to meet the needs of the department and organization
Minimum Qualifications:
- No experience required
- Some knowledge of printing process and equipment an asset
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with all levels of employees and with different ethnic backgrounds
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills as well as being detailed oriented
- Excellent team player with the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated initiative, follow-through and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Physical Demands:
The person in this position will be required to work in fast paced production environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires flexibility as there is a need to be actively involved in all aspects of printing process. Work hours are standard with some overtime when required. Regular attendance is required.
